Sanctuary of Light 2006–2008
The magical, yearly migration of the monarch butterfly, from North America to Mexico, inspired my own trip to observe them in their winter habitat in Michoacan, Mexico. The experience led to a series of paintings based on memory and observation of this extraordinary natural phenomenon. An exhibition followed at the Danforth Museum of Art in Framingham, Massachusetts.
